Welcome to Young Musicians!

About us: The purpose of Young Musicians is to provide outstanding and unique educational and performance opportunities to music students of all ages and ability levels, to expose rural communities in the inter-mountain region (Wyoming, Utah, Idaho) to fine cultural events, to offer exposure to technology in music, and to make music and the arts a higher priority in public school systems.

In the beginning, the Young Musicians organization was born because private music teachers in Evanston, Wyoming and surrounding areas needed a venue for their students to perform solo work and in ensembles, to introduce their students to professional level performers, recognize outstanding students, and to offer additional educational opportunities in the form of workshops. Thus, the annual Young Musicians Festival was born in 1995. Public educators saw the value of the program and began to include the festivities in their lesson plans and concert seasons. Today, Young Musicians presents 4-5 events a year including the Uinta County Concert Season, Young Musicians Festival, Specialists in the Schools Project, Music, Arts and Technology Camp, and Community Choir/Orchestra production of Handel's Messiah.

Young Musicians incorporated in 1998. Over the years, Young Musicians, Inc. has gained momentum, received grant recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts, City of Evanston, Uinta County Commissioners, Evanston Tourism Board, and The Wyoming Arts Council, Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, Wyoming Community Foundation, and WESTAF. In 1999, Executive Director Carolee Bowen and Young Musicians, Inc. received the first annual FAME Award presented by the Wyoming Music Educators Association for "Outstanding Service to the Youth and Public Schools of Wyoming" and has been nominated for the Governor's Arts Award four times.
